Objective(s): To measure phenological, growth and ecophysical responses of major circumpolar plant species to simulations of predicted climate change scenarios in the field.
Project Description: As part of a long-term study, we will continue to monitor the field experiments set up at Alexandra Fiord on Ellesmere Island which examine the effects of climate warming on high arctic plants. Small enclosures have been placed on top of the plants in order that the growing conditions such as temperature and moisture can be altered and their influences on the plants examined. This study is part of an international research effort. Other plant data will be recorded.
