Objectif(s): To continue one of the longest records of glacier mass balance measurements in Canada on White Glacier and to monitor the smaller Baby Glacier; to provide data for climate change impact studies conducted in high latitudes; to investigate the chemistry of Colour Lake in order to determine why this lake is acidic.
Description du projet: Field work for this ongoing project involves taking measure- ments of snow accumulation (from the previous winter) and meltwater accumulation (from the spring) for the White and Baby Glaciers. Changes in the size of the glaciers can provide information about whether the climate is warming. Colour Lake is being investigated because its water is acidic: data will be collected to determine the reason why this lake has such low pH.
