Objective(s): To project possible future climates using output from the `2xCO2 Canadian Climate Centre General Circulation Model (GMC)' for the south Nahanni watershed; to examine possible resulting implications of climate change for riverine hydrology, ecology and use.
Project Description: The research in Nahanni National Park includes the setting up of programs to monitor water depth and vegetational changes along the river. Changes in water depth influence the ability of navigating the river, especially in areas of rapids, and has implications on the level of expertise required by visitors travelling the river. Monitoring vegetation along the river will provide information about the responses of plants to climate change.
