Objective(s): To define the complex facies and depositional environments of the Devonian rocks located on Bathurst Island. An assessment will be made of the solid-liquid mineral potential of the Devonian strata. In the following two field seasons, the Byam Martin, Cameron, and Helena Islands will be visited for similar investigations.

Project Description: The research will involve a detailed assessment of the make- up of Devonian rocks found on Bathurst, Helena, Cameron and Byam Martin Islands over a three-year period. The potential for oil, gas and/or mineral deposits in the Devonian strata will be assessed, but the major emphasis of the research will be on investigating the strata's geochemical, paleontological and sedimentological characteristics.
