Objective(s): To select a suitable site to conduct a fixed location acoustic study on the Arctic Red River, proposed for 1993; to assess the spatial and temporal distribution and relative abundance of coregonids in the Arctic Red River; to quantify target strength levels of the different coregonid species found in the Arctic Red River;

Project Description: The researchers will conduct a mobile hydroacoustic survey from a 20 ft. boat using a BioSonics dual-beam echo-sounder and recording system. A limited amount of gillnetting will be conducted to provide groundtruthing information for the acoustic data. Target strength analysis will also be conducted.
