Objective(s): To examine the channel change that has occurred over the past 40 to 50 years along the lower 5 km of major tributaries entering the Mackenzie River between Fort Simpson and Norman Wells;

Project Description: The researcher and his team will use a special instrument to transfer the channel position at a given location from an aerial photograph to a base map. Repeating this exercise for different aged aerial photographs of the same site reveals the progressive change in the channel position. These maps will show exactly where the channel change is occurring and will allow the rates of movement to be measured.
