Objective(s): To study labour market features in detail in Inuvik region; to analyse employment structure and aboriginal job orientations under influence of dropping fur-prices and the decline of oil activity in the Beaufort Sea; to study the native employment structure being developed by GNWT and Inuvialuit Corporation;

Project Description: The researcher will determine the dependance of aboriginal employment on land and resources, growth and decline of oil company activity, price cuts on products of the traditional economy, the current system of social assistance, government economic policy, and the readiness of native people to enter the labour market now and in the future within the region.
