Objective(s): To gain an understanding of the factors which led the Government of Canada to undertake to divide the Northwest Territories; to examine the benefits and costs to Northerners.
Project Description: The researcher will meet with persons involved in northern politics and discuss the Government of Canada decision to divide the Northwest Territories. By means of informal interviews, an investigation of how the decision was reached and the impacts of the decision upon northern residents will be undertaken.
