Objective(s): To continue research begun in 1991; to quantify the direct costs to fishermen participating in the fishery relative to their success in the fishery; to examine opportunity costs associated with entering the fishery; to examine and quantify other economic and socio- economic effects on the community resulting from commercial fishery development;

Project Description: Begun in 1991, the study will continue to examine the economic and social costs and benefits of the fishery on the Pangnirtung community. The study will also investigate the role of commercial fisheries in the development of eastern arctic communities.
