Objective(s): To continue work begun in 1990; to test and refine the effectiveness of environmental effects monitoring methods for northern mines; to determine whether or not any environmental impacts are occurring in Contwoyto Lake from Lupin Mine effluents;

Project Description: Fifty (50) sediment samples will be collected from 6 stations in Inner and Outer Sun Bay, Contwoyto Lake. The samples will be analyzed to determine whether or not there have been changes in contaminant levels since the mine became operational. Fifty (50) additional samples will be taken to look at the benthic organisms which live in the sediments.
