Objective(s): To investigate community development: how native people understand the concept of investment, both for conservation of wildlife and for business purposes and the types of social institutions which they believe would best support the wealth creating process needed to provide money income in the future;
Project Description: At the community level, the Researcher will investigate why economic development imposed through outside agencies may have failed in some communities. Native residents will be interviewed to determine whether they believe a social institution can evolve from their own culture which can effectively deal with the tradeoffs between sharing of income and profits and the need for saving and investment.
