Objective(s): To find out the nature, the extent and the causes of domestic violence in Inuit Society; to examine the way different generations respond to this problem, the changing family values and the relations between the sexes; to identify the factors associated to domestic violence and the variables that could be specific to Inuit culture;

Project Description: The Researcher will work with the Baffin Regional Agvvik Society, a transition house for battered women and the Tuvvik Alcohol and Drug Counselling Centre, which has a program for batterers. Interviews will be conducted with RCMP, Department of Social Services and Department of Justic to evalute the institutional response to domestic violence.
