Objective(s): To measure the deep and intermediate depth circulation in the Canada Basin off Amundsen Gulf using acoustically tracked neutrally buoyant drifters;

Project Description: Three drifters, called SOFAR (SOund Fixing and Ranging) floats will be ballasted to sink to 1000m and 500m in the ocean. They will be tracked for a period of one year by four underwater listening stations moored along the 700m depth contour northwest of Amundsen Gulf.
