Objective(s): To examine existing conservation and development planning initiatives in several regions from the perspective of ecosystem approaches; to develop some guidelines and criteria for assessing and designing conservation and development planning methods and processes that better reflect environmental and ecosystem problems and needs;

Project Description: This three year research project will begin this year. The study will compare conservation and development planning methods and processes in several resource-based regions of the world. Information will be collected on existing methods and processes in the Beaufort Sea, Yukon North Slope, Kluane, Prince William Sound and Australian Alps.
