Objective(s): To examine the geomorphic role of circulating groundwater in permafrozen carbonate rock terrains; specifically, 1) to locate and classify solution landforms in the northern Mackenzie Mountains; 2) to expand a regional geochemical data base through collection and analyses of surface and ground waters across a variety of permafrost environments;
Project Description: Karst landscapes are landforms developed on carbonate rocks in humid and temperate climates and are relatively rare in permafrost areas. The Researcher and team will focus on understanding how Karst has and is developing in the Northern Mackenzie Mountains. This will be done by identifying karst forms and examining how water moves in these environments.
