Objective(s): To investigate the origin and evolution of the paleosol beneath the Thelon Basin; to make regional comparisons between the paleosols developed beneath the Thelon, Hornby Bay, Elu and Athabasca Basins, and to draw conclusions with regard to the physical and chemical paleoenvironments which prevailed during their development; to document and interpret the clay mineral alteration associated with mineralization within the proximal to the sub-Thelon Basin paleosol;

Project Description: The Researcher will collect samples of the sub-Thelon paleosol (ancient weathering horizon in the rocks). These samples will be taken back to Carleton University, Ottawa to be chemically analysed and systematically classified.
