Objective(s): To determine the growth rates and survival rate of Black Brant goslings and the influence that brood size, hatch date, and age of the parents have on those rates; to determine the number of brant breeding at the Anderson River colony, their nesting success and the distribution of the breeding and brood rearing areas.
Project Description: Numbers of Brant are low relative to other Arctic geese. This research will determine the number of pairs breeding in the colony, their nesting success and brood survival rates to increase the information needed for the Arctic Goose Joint Venture of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan.
