Objective(s): To obtain daily aerial photographs of the vegetation of Borup Fiord; to continue Arctic Char studies which include investigation of mixing processes under the ice at breakup, aquatic insect studies, genetic differentiation of Char morphs and expansion of the 1988 database; to continue studies in sedimentary geology; to survey the vascular flora; to conduct an archaeological survey; to study the relationship between soil quality and vegetation density; to study the relationship between temperature and botanical diversity; to conduct a census of wading birds ringed in 1988;
Project Description: Multi-disciplinary research will be undertaken in botany, geology, micro meteorology, soil science, remote sensing, breeding biology of Arctic char and archaeological survey. These studies are a continuation of those begun in 1988.
