Objective(s): To follow up research conducted at the same site between 1985-87; to compare established (or known) rates of permafrost creep with those measured following manipulation of certain field variables; to establish: threshold values for the initiation of permafrost creep; maximum rates of permafrost creep given specific conditions; to access the impact of this process on Arctic development;

Project Description: The Researcher and his assistant will follow up research conducted at the same site between 1985-87. They will compare known rates of permafrost creep with those measured following manipulation of certain field variables (i.e. alteration of the snow cover to change the natural ground thermal regime).
