Objective(s): To do a comparative study of traditional and contemporary methods of hide tanning and porcupine quill use. This study will look at regional differences in southern NWT, Yukon, Northern Alberta and James Bay.

Project Description: The research will address issues pertaining to the endangerment of traditional art forms and practices specific to hide tanning and porcupine quill work. Additionally, the researcher will examine the difficulty in obtaining raw materials and the social implications related to the loss of these art forms.
