Objective(s): To obtain samples of ringed seals throughout a complete calendar year to gain information on growth, seasonal fattening, reproduction and feeding habits.
Project Description: This study involves the weighing, measuring and sampling of ringed seals which are harvested during normal hunting activities around Pangnirtung. Sampling includes the collection of various tissues and organs. This information will be used to estimate how quickly the ringed seal population replaces harvested animals.
