Objective(s): To determine the extent and productivity of summer range for the introduced reindeer and produce a range map of the islands; to determine the current impact of the reindeer on their forage habitat; to observe feeding behaviour of the reindeer;

Project Description: The Researcher and his team will assist the community of Sanikiluaq and the local Hunters and Trappers Association who are concerned about managing the reindeer herd for sustained meat production. In 1978 60 reindeer were introduced on the Belcher Islands and the herd has grown to approximately 530 in 1990.
