Objective(s): To provide baseline data on mortality and morbidity and general health of the region; to involve the KRHB and the CHCB in a process which would raise their awareness of health issues; to point out areas where programs should be directed to modify health risks; to serve as a benchmark against which success of specific health programs can be measured; to serve as a model of community health needs and status assessment for other Native communities;

Project Description: Dr. Moffatt and his colleagues will assess the health status and health needs of the Keewatin Region. A five stage study will be undertaken and includes: Health Indicators Summary, Key Informant Interviews, Sociodemographic Household Survey, Review and Summary of existing sources of economic, social and educational data, and a Survey of a random sample of individuals.
