Objectif(s): to contribute to an understanding of the process of devolution and its impact upon the larger process of constitutional development in the North; to study the impact of devolution on local governments and aboriginal groups especially in the area of policy development; to transfer information to northerners on devolution and its implications; to examine these questions through a case study on wildlife and fisheries; in particular: to document the present roles of NWT wildlife and fisheries management agencies; to describe the current research and regulatory paradigms; to review the aboriginal claims provisions that involve wildlife and fisheries; to investigate

Description du projet: Dr. Clancy is part of a group of researchers investigating the process of devolution and its impact upon constitutional development in the North. His case study involves wildlife and fisheries management in the NWT. He is interviewing various members of the relevant management agencies and those involved in aboriginal claims to investigate how the structure of wildlife management may change in the future.
