Objectif(s): To clarify freshwater red algae classification by determining key stable and non-overlapping structural characteristics needed to clearly separate species. Collecting trips will be made to all major drainage basins of the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic. Preserved samples will be analyzed by computerized microscopy and live samples will be cultured under varied growth conditions to induce potential structural variability.
