Objectif(s): The BIOS Project (Baffin Island Oil Spill Project) is being conducted to determine if the use of dispersants in the arctic nearshore will reduce or increase the environmental effects of spilled oil and to assess the effectiveness of other shoreline protection and clean-up techniques. Sampling of water, bottom sediments, and various types of plant and animal life will be underaken to ascertain the overall effect of the oil.
