Description du projet: This licence has been issued for the scientific research application No. 6099. The proposed project was developed at the request of the End of Life Unit in the Health Care Programs and Policy Directorate. This project is essential to inform the work of the Federal/Provincial/Terriortial (FPT) working group on MAiD. This 2-phased project has several objectives. First, it will explore existing models of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) program delivery and approaches to its oversight in Canada in order to identify polices, processes, key challenges and promising practices for addressing them. Resulting knowledge will provide provincial/territorial governments and other MAiD stakeholders at national and international levels with considerations for future MAiD policy and planning. The second phase of the project will examine the MAiD experience of Canadians. The focus is multifactorial, seeking experiences of providers, patients, friends, and families in the MAID process with additional interest in the impact of the types of models utilized in various jurisdictions. Participants will be recruited using purposive sampling to ensure they reflect the full range of variations in components of MAiD models or programs identified through the comparative analysis. Potential participants will initially be identified through information collected as part of the jurisdictional scan and contact with program directors and patient/family support organizations. They will be asked to provide additional names of individuals who should be invited to participate The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from: February 13 - April 30, 2025
