Description du projet: The objective of this study is to assess the efficiency of the common cattail in the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus forms from wastewater to aid in the improvement of the sewage lagoon at the Inuvik Wastewater Treatment plant. Common cattail seeds will be placed in a germination chamber at Aurora Research Institute for four weeks, with watering and rotation of the plants being done twice a week. At the end of the germination period, they will be transplanted into four separate plant boxes; two will have treated town water added while the others will be filled with lagoon water. Soil analyses will be done the same day. The addition of more water will occur once a week for the remainder of the study.
