Objectif(s): To update and increase the understanding of the geological history of an area along the Beaulieu River.

Description du projet: The objectives of this project are to update and increase the understanding of the geological history of an area along the Beaulieu River. The work will be conducted mostly on foot with access to the shore provided by canoe and zodiac boat. Notes on the geology will be taken and entered into a database. Holes up to 1m in depth will be dug to make observations and take samples of the till, the holes will then be refilled. Hand sized samples of rock will be collected with a hammer and will be stored in Yellowknife. The focus of this project is to learn about the geological history along part of the Beaulieu River. This work will have impacts on the understanding of the rocks of the region and the potential for finding mineral deposits. The information collected will be available for use by the public and will be presented in talks and reports and can be submitted to the communities upon request. Additional educational presentations can be made upon request. The maps and reports generated from this program will be available for free on the Northwest Territories Geosicence Office website. There will be scientific presentations given at conference (e.g. Yellowknife Geoscience Forum). Presentations and copies of maps and reports can be made for the community upon request. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from June 14, 2017 to July 21, 2017.
