Objectif(s): To conduct interviews with key stakeholders in the retail food sector to gain a better understanding of such issues as program implementation issues, barriers and facilitating factors, successes and recommendations. This information is intended to be used to improve community-based chronic disease prevention programs.
Description du projet: This is a small, additional funded component of the Healthy Foods North evaluation which intends to add to the knowledge base in regards to working with partners in the retail food sector. This information will benefit Healthy Foods North and potentially influence further program funding and expansion in the Beaufort Delta region. Objectives of this portion of the study are: 1. To conduct interviews with key stakeholders in the retail food sector to gain a better understanding of such issues as program implementation, barriers and facilitating factors, successes and recommendations. 2. To share this information with the communities as well as Health Canada. This information is intended to be used to improve community-based chronic disease prevention programs. Qualitative research involving 10 - 15 key stakeholder interviews with the retail food sector as well as community key stakeholders and community interventionists. Key stakeholders will be provided with a summary of the purpose of the interviews and will be asked to sign consent forms. Results will be communicated to all community organizations, partners and stakeholders. A summary of results will be submitted for local newsletters (Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Inuvik Interagency Committee, and Community Corporations) and a very brief summary will be provided on the Healthy Foods North website. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from September 17, 2009 to December 31, 2009.
