Objectif(s): The objective of this research is to study how climatic extremes and geographical isolation affects Yellowknife journalists.
Description du projet: This license has been issued for the scientific research application #972. The objective of this research is to study how climatic extremes and geographical isolation affects Yellowknife journalists. 20 qualitative interviews will be conducted with journalist in the NWT. Conversations will concern: Do climatic and geographical conditions affect the selection and implementation of news topics? How does the internet influence the conditions of work and the media world in the North? Does this affect their self-esteem? The audio of the interviews will be recorded with a flash card recorder and transcribed later. The audio will be deleted after transcribing. The researcher will submit a report to the participants and the Aurora Research Institute. The final report will be submitted in German. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from February 10 to March 05, 2009 in Yellowknife.
