Objectif(s): This research will examine the livers of Loche fish in the GSA.

Description du projet: This licence is being issued for the scientific research application # 778. This research will examine the livers of Loche fish in the GSA. This research will be completed through: 1) field collection of loche in each of the GSA communities; 2) biological sampling of loche; 3) analysis of stomach health and aging (using isotopes). More specifically, biological measurements will be taken for each fish captured (i.e. fork length, round weight, liver weight, stomach weight, gonad weight, sex, maturity, aging structures, tissue sample and fin clipping). Samples will be analysed for stable isotopes, stomach contents and age. Stable isotopes will reveal information on the loches’ diet. Fieldwork will be conducted June 26, 2008 to December 31, 2008, at specific sampling locations identified by the Fish monitor and the local RRC. The regions of interest are: Inuvik (Creeks along the East Channel), Tsiigehtchic (along the Mackenzie River or in the Arctic Red River - within 50 km of community), Aklavik (Creeks along the Peel River or Aklavik River), Fort McPherson (Creeks along the Peel River or Husky Channel).
