Objectif(s): De Beers Canada has conducted a number of baseline studies in the Gahcho Kue' area. These studies will continue in 2005 to assist with current environmental management of the Gahcho Kue' mineral exploration property. Technical/scientific research and local knowledge, in combination with a synthesis of existing technical information, is being used to develop a suitable knowledge base for future planning. AMEC Earth and Environmental will be carrying out the baseline studies on behalf of De Beers. These studies will consist of wildlife, fisheries, water quality, hydrology, meteorology and air quality, vegetation, and soils studies in 2005. The studies will add to the research that was done in 2004.
