Objectif(s): The Silver Bear Properties comprise four abandoned silver-copper mines; Terra, Northrim, Norex (aka Gramham Vein), and Smallwood Lake. They are located within the northern portion of the Camsell River watershed near Great Bear Lake. These mines are contaminated sites that need clean-up. Indian and Northern Affairs Canada has taken responsibility for the remediation and monitoring and has hired Rescan Environmental Services Ltd to conduct baseline aquatic and terrestrial surveys of the area and to prepare a remediation plan. Rescan scientists will visit the site and sample the fish and benthic invertebrate communities of four lakes in the areas, take vegetation samples, and measure the bathymetry of the lakes.
