Objectif(s): There are four main objectives of this research: 1) research training and activities in the Dogrib region; 2) research training of graduate students at the University of Victoria; 3) the production of a bilingual collection of Dogrib stories about travel; and 4) research on sentence patterns in the Dogrib language. The research on stories will add to other research on Dogrib travel (for example, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre website on the Indaa Trail) and other research on travel and stories about travel by other Dene people, and it will at the same time result in a book/CD for Dogrib community members. Dogrib elders and others will be interviewed in the research process, and community language workers will be trained. The language research will add to what is already known about the Dogrib language and give insight into how knowledge is expressed in the Dogrib language.
