Objectif(s): The Parsons Lake development area presents unique development and operational challenges because it is landlocked and inaccessible by traditional ground vehicles for all but 100 days of the year when ice roads can be constructed. With the unreliability and the shortening of the ice road season, the objective of these trials is to evaluate the performance of Low Ground Pressure Vehicles (LGPV) on frozen tundra without ice construction or surface preparation. ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) seeks to confirm that LGPVs are a practical, economical, and environmentally viable option for routine winter supply of the Parsons Lake area. CPC also seeks to confirm that LGPVs used during winter without surface preparation cause minimal damage to soil, permafrost, and vegetation.
