Objectif(s): The objective of the study is to deduce the source and method of ore (ie. gold and other precious and base metals) deposition in the Crestaurum Mine area. This information will be used to develop new methods of exploration for precious and base metals throughout Canada, and around the world. The importance of, and motivation for, the study is to find new methods of mineral exploration, in order to discover economic ore deposits, and to rejuvenate the mining industry, in the Yellowknife area.
Description du projet: The research team will be based out of Yellowknife. Travel to the Crestaurum Mine site will be by road; travel on site will be by foot. Detailed geological mapping will be carried out by gathering fist-sized samples of rock with a hammer, or rock saw. Both mineralized (ore-bearing) and un-mineralized samples will be collected. Samples will then be returned to the laboratory for further, detailed analysis.
