Objectif(s): The objective of this study is to improve the geological understanding of the Slave Geological Province in general and specific key areas in more detail (eg. areas northeast of Yellowknife known as the Sleepy Dragon Complex, the Acasta Gneiss Complex, the Courageous Lake area, etc.). Data will contribute to a new geological map for the Slave Province to be releaseded in 2001.

Description du projet: The objective of this study is to improve the geological understanding of the Slave Geological Province in general and specific key areas in more detail (eg. areas northeast of Yellowknife known as the Sleepy Dragon Complex, the Acasta Gneiss Complex, the Courageous Lake area, etc.). Various rock types will be mapped and described and their role in the complex geological history of the Slave Province will be assessed. Fly-in and fly out camps will be set up and small float planes used to access remote locations. Daily traverses by foot or by boat will be used to study the local rocks and collect small handsamples for subsequent laboratory work.
