Objectif(s): Canada's Northwest Territories are rich in multiculturalism. The majority of the population is aboriginal, but there are many other ethnic origins represented in the demography. Educating nurses to deliver culturally appropriate care is imperative to meet the health care needs of this diverse population. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ways and to what degree nurses integrate culture into their practice and to discover what does and what does not work to facilitate the learning of culturally appropriate care. This study will contribute to nursing's cultural knowledge base and to the education of culturally competent nurses.

Description du projet: The research methodology is fourth generation evaluation. It is based on the belief that there are multiple realities socially constructed through an individual's experiences and believed to be true when consensus is reached amongst a group of people. It is a methodology where the findings are created by the inquiry process. This process compares and contrasts emerging constructions and then creates a new construction that is defined as being real by the stakeholders. This methodology involves conducting individual interviews and holding focus group with participants. The researcher will obtain informed consent of all participants. All data will be kept confidential. No names will be used in written reports
