Description du projet: This study serves to identify existing habitat characteristics of the identified portion of Baker Creek, identify resident fish communities at the time of sampling, and to identify potential rehabilitation and restoration concepts to assist in the re-establishment of historic fish habitat conditions. Field studies will involve the identification of fish habitat characteristics, the identification of present fish species using electrofishing, seine netting and, minnow trapping techniques, and the collection of benthic invertebrates using surber sampling techniques. Background data search will focus on previous studies associated with Baker Creek and a review of historical aerial photography. The result of the project is to target habitat rehabilitation concepts for incorporation into Giant Mines Abandonment and Restoration Plan.
