Objectif(s): More and more resource co-management agreements are being formed in Canada. I am examining the functioning of one of the oldest resource co-management boards, the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq's Caribou Management Board. I hope to gain an understanding of the communities experience with this Board in order to see how it can be improved. An unstructured interview style is the most appropriate for this type of research.

Description du projet: The objective of this study is to examine the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board (BQCMB) in particular and resource co-management in general. The specific focus will be on their approach toward the necessary integration of different kinds of knowledge and it's ability to respond to specific community concerns and interests. The researcher will conduct open ended interviews aiming at the experience the community of Lutsel K'e has had with the Beverly and Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board. The types of questions to be asked will deal the experiences people in the community have had in dealing with the BQCMB as well as their views, feelings and opinions on how to go about equal resource co-management in general. Participation in the study is on a voluntary basis. Data will be stored on audio tapes which will then be transcribed and materials will be provided to community for approval before publication.
