Objectif(s): Sampling river water, such as that from the Mackenzie, the Peel, the Athabasca, the Slave, etc. Collection of about 60-80 liters of water and then filtering it. Interested in the particles carried out by the river (thus only the material remaining on the filters). This is part of a worldwide project, involving the Amazon, the Congo, the Yang-Tsie-Kiang, etc...rivers. The goal is to determine, through geochemical analyses, the composition of their drainage basins and make inferences about the chemical composition of the rocks within their drainage basins.

Description du projet: All transportation will be done using rental vehicles (usually locally). Water sampling will be done out of rental boats (typically zodiac-type) and equipment (light pumps manually operated); water will be filtered on site, particles in suspension will be carried back for analysis. This will typically be 50-100 milligrams. Itinerary includes: Inuvik, Ft. Providence, Yelllowknife.
