Objectif(s): To use the tools of molecular genetics to reconstruct the post-glacial history of the migration of two widespread arctic plant species (Dryas integrifolia and Eriophorum angustifolium). The distribution patterns of these two species, along with their genetic information, will provide a phylogenetic history of each species.
Description du projet: The researchers will collect samples of each plant species (Dryas integrifolia and Erinophorum angustifolium) communities. Non-destructive seeds and leaf samples will be randomly taken from 30 individual plants within sample patches over a one day period in each of the communities. No camp sites or use of vehicles such as ATV's will be utilized.
