Objectif(s): To collect information from Arviat elders about the island of Arviaq as well as the Maguse River and Lake; to provide this information in a presentation to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada in order to determine if the island should be designated as a National Historic Site.

Description du projet: The researcher will work with Luke Suluk, a recognized expert regarding archaeology and traditional Padlimiut culture. Mr. Suluk will identify different archaeological features and describe their significance. Elders and youth from Arviat will also participate in the research. This research will support a presentation to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada to determine if Arviaq should be a National Historic Site.
