Objectif(s): Specific aims of the study include: (1) determination of the position of the equilibrium line altitude separating the accumulation and ablation zones; (2) determination of surface and subsurface parameters of interest for radar research, namely surface roughness criterion and dielectric properties; and (3) evaluation of surface versus volumetric contribution to back-scattered signal.

Description du projet: The field research will involve the measurement of a high arctic valley glacier using mainly portable electronic equipment in order to better understand the interaction between radar signals and a glacier surface. This exercise may contribute to more accurate interpretation of satellite radar data on glaciological phenomena.
