Objectif(s): Objective is to measure the magnetic field fluctuations caused by ionosphere electric currents associated with the aurora. From this study, we hope to learn more about the physical processes that couple energy from the sun to the earth's upper atmosphere.
Description du projet: We plan to install magnetometers, instruments that passively measure the earth's magnetic field, at 4 sites during the summer of 1993. We will spend approx. 1 week at each site installing and testing equipment, and will then leave it in place for several years. We also plan to revisit the 4 communities of Pangnirtung, Cape Dorset, Coral Harbour and Repulse Bay to meet with established contacts and check on equipment and operations.
