Objectif(s): To examine rock exposures and record geological information; to collect rock and fossil samples for laboratory study; to interpret the geological history of these reef-like structures and the environments in which they formed;
Description du projet: In the Arctic Islands, the research will study sedimentary rocks and fossils that were formed more than 400 million years ago in warm tropical seas. It is hoped the study will assist in interpreting ancient environments in more detail, for example suggesting water depths, temperatures and climate.
