Objectif(s): (1) To establish the stratigraphy, sedimentology and paleontology of exposures of Beaufort Formation; to obtain a paleomagnetic record for the Tertiary beds; to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental conditions which prevailed in the Arctic before the onset of the major Late Cenozoic cooling; to provide information for a 1991 field trip; (2) To complete a detailed survey of some Late Tertiary and Quaternary deposits on northwestern Banks Island to reconstruct past environments and events;

Description du projet: A camp will be set up on morthwestern Bands Island (Ballast Brook). Sections along rivers and the coast will be examined by the various researchers to determine the nature of the various sediments and their fossil content.
